Mixmag top 25 DJs of the year:

Voted number 24.

Formally known as Tylor-Leigh, I signed to Active Talent Agency, formally known as PFAgency. I was lucky enough to play some of the best clubs in the world such as Cream, Amnesia, Eden, and Radio One Big Weekend. I reached number 24 in the top 25 DJs of the year in Mixmag and played alongside the best talent in the industry.

I was living my dream job, but often what we don't see, is how tough a career in music can be. It's fast-paced, with strenuous touring schedules, travelling through different time zones, sleeplessness due to persistent jet lag, excessive tiredness, homesickness and loneliness can all be challenging. As an artist, I wasn't aware that factors such as these could play an integral role in my wellbeing.

Even experiencing the natural highs of performing to a live audience of 1000s and then having to adapt to being on a flight or in a hotel room alone can be challenging. And when I was experiencing a sense of unhappiness as a result, I really didn't understand why or where it was coming from.

A career in music presents a need to adapt to consistent change. Whether that be environment, place, country, timezone, weather, people, food, exercise, or sleep patterns. And the need for that process of adaption to happen quickly is also consistent, which can take its toll on an artist emotionally and physically.

For me, at the time, because I didn't understand why I was feeling the way I was, I felt I had no alternative but to walk away from the career I loved. Sometime after leaving the music industry, I spent time with a professional therapist, who provided me with the opportunity to work through my experience and to understand it. My new perspective on what I was going through at the time was profound. If only I knew then what I know now.

And this is why I decided to set up Chaos & Art. Because I understand first-hand what it feels like to be an artist working in the music industry. I understand how chaotic it can feel. And how without support, our wellbeing, performance and longevity can be negatively affected.

Professional support can be incredibly beneficial, and I believe every artist deserves to have access to a support programme tailored to their individual needs.

Created by artists, for artists, we know what it feels like to find yourself in the chaos of the industry when you’re pursuing your art.

And that’s why we help artists find their balance between the chaos and the art.
